Sarah Smithurst

  General Notes:

There are records of the marriage of Sarah Smithhurst and Francis Cooper on 3
Oct 1774 in Manchester Cathedral Lancashire England and also five children born
from 1781 to a Hannah Cooper in 1795. The children are of Blackley and
Middleton by Oldham. There are also children John and Mary Cooper o fManchester
and Prestwich born in 1778 and 1786 to Francis Cooper and Sarah Last name not
stated. Also in the Mormon branch records for Middleton Lancashire there are
Smithurst's and Cooper's listed but no Buckleys. There is a Charles Cooper son
of Francess Cooper and Sarah Smethurst born 10 June 1793 in Blackley,
Lancashire in this LDS record. The Heap family history mentions an Uncle
Charles Cooper so this is proof of the Smithurst connection.

There are no records of a marriage of a Sarah Buckley to a Francis Cooper or
any children in the 1993 IGI. I believe an early researcher found a Sarah
Buckley who married a William Heap in Newcastele Under Lyne and
erroneously assumed this was our ancestor.

Sarah married Francis Cooper, son of John Cowper and Unknown, on 3 Oct 1774 in Manchester, Lancashire, England. (Francis Cooper was born about 1756.)
